After The Deadline Web Browser Plugin Catches Errors *Before* You Post Them (For Eternity)
5th Feb 2010 Posted in: Blog, The Tools 0

My clients – like many other businesspeople – are increasingly communicating via the Internet, and a growing fraction of that communication is written within a Web browser.

Writing posts, comments and updates on social media like blogs, Twitter and Facebook often results in embarrassing grammar, usage and spelling errors – very public errors which basically mock you for an eternity.

Now there’s hope.

After The Deadline is a Firefox plug-in that offers “Spell, Grammar, and Style Check” right in your Firefox Web browser. It’s handy, it’s (so far) easy to use, and yes – it’s free.

According to the site, it offers a more powerful spell checker than Firefox, and also flags misused words, grammar issues, etc. (Remember when browsers didn’t even offer spell checkers? Oy.)

Though everything that flows from my fingertips is perfect just as it is, I still installed AfterTheDeadline for testing (everybody has an off day).

It’s too early in the test to rave about After The Deadline (it hasn’t always checked what I’ve written), but I figure it’s never too early to stop posting embarrassing mistakes online.

Stay thoughtful, Tom Chandler.
